Born in 1981 in Hradec Králové, he spent most of his childhood in Brno. He has always loved sports, travelling, books, nature, but music has all the time been the winner above all. Therefore, along with the Primary School for the Blind, he also studied singing and piano at the Primary School of Arts in Brno – Královo Pole. In 1998 he moved to Prague with his parents.
He continued his musical education in Prague. At first he studied privately, later he was admitted to the Prague Conservatory where he studied popular singing under the guidance of Prof. Lída Nopová. He developed his feel for the piano under Prof. Miloš Nop, one of the most sought-after pianists on the Czech music scene at the turn of the millennium. He also excelled in theoretical subjects and chose as the subject of his graduation thesis “Analysis of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 36 using the method of aural analysis”. He graduated from the Prague Conservatory as the only blind student in the school’s modern history.
During his studies he began to work with the composer Tomáš Kympl. The result was the album Některý lidi (2008) and especially the album Doktor duší (2020) with a number of personally focused compositions. With the song Doktor duší (Doctor of Souls) he won the Platinum Twelve award for twelve wins in the Czech Radio hit parade and subsequently the annual Legend of the Night Stream award in the Discovery of the Year category.
Jan has fulfilled his long-held dream of one day making music his profession. He plays dozens of concerts every year and is also a sought-after cocktail pianist in leading Prague hotels. In his free time, he pursues his hobbies. He is an accomplished sportsman and an enthusiastic traveller who brings his experiences from his travels around the world to his concert work.
